Take Two is an immersive deep-listening night consisting of two elements: an uninterrupted, high-quality playback of a seminal jazz album, followed by a modern-day reinterpretation by New York City’s finest musicians.
Our seventeenth edition will feature the legendary trumpeter Miles Davis and one of his many masterpieces, the 1968 LP Filles de Kilimanjaro. This album sits at the fleeting moment of time between Miles’ acoustic and electric period and features all-time greats such as Wayne Shorter, Herbie Hancock, and Chick Corea.
The live reinterpretation will be led by the Nassau-born trumpeter Giveton Gelin. After graduating from Juilliard in 2021, Gelin has been making waves as a rising star, playing alongside pioneers of the NYC jazz scene like Wynton Marsalis, Jon Batiste, Nicholas Payton, and many more. After recently returning from a Miles Davis tribute tour in Israel, Gelin is fulfilling his artistic vision while paying homage to his idols.
